Pistis
Sophia: A Gnostic Miscellany by G. R. S. Mead
Until recent publication of the MacDermot translation (above), this was
the most readable translation of major portions of the Books of the Savior
(from the Askew codex, commonly titled Pistis Sophia) with
excerpts of related literature and valuable commentaries. Pistis
Sophia provides our major source on Valentinian Sophiology. Mead
provides a more complete and scholarly translation of Pistis Sophia
than does McDermot in her new edition -- Mead's version serves better for
reference use, and McDermot's for casual study. (This is a reprint
edition, and this entire book is available online in our library.)

Echoes
from the Gnosis: 100th Anniversary Edition
by
G. R. S. Mead
Fifty years before the discovery of the Nag Hammadi Library,
Mead searched, collected and translated a treasure trove of ancient
Gnostic texts from Christian, Greek, and Roman sources. First published
between 1906 and 1908, Mead's exploration of the early
textual
history of Gnosticism remains accurate, insightful and important.
Here
is the complete collection of his groundbreaking eleven volumes on
Gnosticism -- long out of print and now reissued in a centennial
edition with an appreciative commentary by Stephan A.
